UFN 21: Only 4,000 Tickets Left, And TUF 12 Tryouts In Charlotte, NC On April 1st

MMAforreal.com spoke with a source employed at the Bojangles Coliseum last night and indications are that tickets are going fast.  The UFC finalized the 11 fight event on yesterday and the entire fight card can be viewed here.  The source indicated that the venue capacity is roughly 11,000 strong but will be scaled back to 10,600 to make accommodations for the octagon, etc.  As of last night there are only 4,000 tickets available for this event with only 3 weeks left before the event takes place on March 31st.  In other words, 6,600 tickets have already gone out the door(of course some of these will be comped more than likely).

The largest fight night event in regards to attendance was UFN 20, held next door in Virginia at George Mason University with a total of 8,500.  So it seems that this North Carolina based Fight Night will smash that number and become the largest Ultimate Fight Night event ever.

I told yall so here, here, and here.

UFC president Dana White was so impressed with the event in Virginia, that he said the promotion would probably do a PPV there within the next year or so.  Well Mr. White, I hope you plan on doing the same thing here in the state of North Carolina.  The fans here and the surrounding areas will come out to support, and there's a lot of talent in this state that needs to be given a look which brings me to the latest news.

The UFC will be holding tryouts for the 12 season of TUF right here in North Carolina on April 1st, which is the day after UFN 21.  The tryouts will take place at the Omni Charlotte Hotel's grand ballroom and will begin with registration at 8 a.m. ET, and tryouts begin at 10 a.m. ET while fighters need to arrive between 8am-9am with appropriate work out attire.  The address to the location is 132 E. Trade Street Charlotte, North Carolina, 28202.  The phone number is (704) 377-0400.

Applicants must be over the age of 21 and have a professional fight record with a minimum of three fights.  Season 12 will feature lightweights(155lbs) and light heavyweights(205lbs).  Dana White and producers from Spike TV will be on hand that day to judge the fighters.  So all my North Carolina guys, represent represent!

The thing that is stupid is DW says: “LHW are 225-235” What is he talking about!? If your talented enough to make the show you are talented enough to make the show.

I think what dana is discussing is how some fighters win tuf and then immediately drop weight classes after winning

by Loco Chewy on Mar 10, 2010 3:10 PM EST up reply actions

I mean

What the hell is DW talking about. You normally walk around at 225 for most of your carrer and all of a suddened you have to make 205 consistantly? A little stupid and a little dangerous.

Sorry

My computer is dying on me. Back to my comment. What the hell is DW talking about. You normally walk around at 225 for most of your carrer and all of a suddened you have to make 205 consistantly? A little stupid and a little dangerous.

I understand your point but that is the reality of the situation. Look at how big some of these guys really are and how much weight they cut. Its scary

anyone tryin out? good luck .

does anyone know if there is an age limit? im sure they have to a cut off point.

by #1 piggy on Mar 10, 2010 3:01 PM EST reply actions

21 years old...to whatever I guess

I mean…if some 40 year old comes out there…I doubt they would be like…nah, you can’t try out.

yes but what if a 50 yr old want to try out?

I thought the whole purpose of this was to breed new talent for the future? someone 40 yrs old wont be around to much longer, Unless they just dont pick him. That would be a waste of alot of these guys time if they had no interest in any of these old guys. But ghe question is what is a good cut off age?i would say 34 but then again randy couture didnt start until around that age, so who the hell knows.

by #1 piggy on Mar 10, 2010 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

Around 30 yrs old is a good cut off age

At that age…a guy is still in his prime somewhat…depending on wear/tear etc…but would still have time to make some noise provided his skillset would allow it…

If some 50 year old comes in…they probably just wouldn’t pick him..lol.

I think that is why most of us are here. Our friends like MMA but just are not into on the level we are. I have to say Kelvin runs a nice site and takes a lot of time to comment to everyone. Very nice community on mmaforreal.
