DirecTV Subscribers Might Be In The Dark As UFC On Versus 1 Nears

Well, all those DirecTV subscribers that thought the they would get to watch Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera in March might cry themselves to sleep tonight.  It's being reported that DirecTV and Versus probably will not be reaching an new TV agreement any time soon:

At this time, we are not optimistic that an agreement will be in place with DirecTV in time for the start of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs

Those of you that are Hockey fans(all one of you Matt) know that the playoffs start sometime in April.  So if the agreement isn't in place by then, well we'll just be S.O.L. as MMA fans wanting to see the UFC on Versus on March 21st.   Luckily for me, TWC still carries Versus, but I'm still pissed off they they cut off my HDNet.  I'll tell you, we MMA fans just can't catch a break at times can we?

If Comcast gets HDNet

It would make my future cable company decisions much, much easier. Verizon FiOS has some bitchin’ packages, but their availability is pretty piss-poor.

This is absurd.

I get the beef between Vs. (Comcast) and DirecTV, but missing the Stanley cup is probably going to cost them a few subscribers. I get that hockey isn’t the most popular sport state-side (Canada not withstanding), but it’s been my experience that hockey fans will go to great lengths to see the games, and calling up Dish or the local Cableco isn’t exactly a hard thing to do.

No biggie, as an DirecTV subscriber, I adjusted to being without Versus quite some time ago. None of the fights are an absolute must see for me, live anyway. I’ll catch em’ after the fact on a website.

Thank God for Canadian Broadcasting

I am on Shaw Direct\Starchoice in Canada, and luckily I get it all.

HDNET for non UFC Events
The Fight Network, for new on everything MMA
SuperChannel airs the Strikeforce on Showtime events
CBS is available to everyone
Spike for TUF and Fight Nights

Guess I just have to purchase PPV and I get it all.
