MMA Fashion Apparel Poll

If any of you recall in my recent FanPost on the Strikeforce: Miami event that I attended, I made note about the large number of people that were wearing Affliction or TapOut. The day following the event, I was considering going to a GSP/Affliction signing in Miami where you had to have made a purchase of $50 or more within the month of January, day of signing included. Due to time constraints, I was not able to make it. However had I been able to, I no doubt would have dropped the $50 on a GSP t-shirt just to have him sign (not to wear).
I don't know if that would have made me a hypocrite, since I slammed a bunch of people that were wearing Affliction and/or TapOut shirts the night prior, but to me it seems ok to wear (or just collect) one as long as it has a fighters name on it, particularly one you are a fan of. Just wearing said name brands as fashion looks pretty toolish though IMO, much like when people wearing MMA camp shirts in public when they don't even train (a lot of guys down here who don't train wear ATT & Gracie shirts).
So, my question to all you opinionated MMAForReal readers is the following:
The FanPosts are solely the subjective opinions of MMA4Real readers and do not necessarily reflect those of MMA4Real editors or staff.

This should be really good...lol
The only MMA shirt I’ll wear is the eventual MMA4Real T-Shirt for obvious reasons…and the Cageside MMA t-shirt that I have…because it’s dope.

Bad Experiences
I bought a few Tapout shirts a little while ago and one day I wore one. I noticed people would look at the shirt and get tense and shifty-eyed. It made me feel like I was telling the world that I can beat the s**t out of you. The young guy at the deli I went to saw the shirt and started jumping around cranking his neck and shaking his hands out like fighters do before a fight. I wore the shirt to the gym one time and instantly a guy noticed me and started shadow boxing toward me as I was on one of the machines. I don’t know if it’s the stigma around the sport or if fight fans are inherently hostile but for these reasons, I won’t wear the shirts anymore.

To express fandom: Sure, why not – I wouldn’t, but if you rock a shirt obviously tied to a specific fighter I would see it as sporting a jersey.
To try to come off as a fighter in any light when you’re not: lameduckfuck.
As I box I have a couple of Everlast-shirts and whatnot, but the stigma isn’t the same and I’d never buy shit because of a brand… most of that came in package deals, “buy shoes get a t-shirt for free” etc.

Also
I have to point out that 95% of the MMA related apparel out there is absolutely horrible. All those skull/cross bone with designs that I can’t decipher is retarded.

The “Nobody Beats Me” Fedor and the Kawajiri shirt Sherdog has in their store are the only shirts I’ve ever really liked.

I'm generally against giganto-logos
But I’ve got a Cage Fighter hoodie that is SO freakishly comfortable that it’s an exception. The GF absolutely hates it when we go out and I wear it, but she’s admitted on a number of occaisions that she’d kill for one of such comfort, if it didn’t have the crazy logos.
I think it mostly depends on how you carry yourself. If you walk around with a douche-tastic attitude, or you’re wearing one that’s two sizes too small, then yeah you probably deserve to be treated as such. If some chump like me is wearing one though, I don’t see any reason why they should be picked on anymore than anyone with an Old-Navy logo or popped collar.

Who Cares What You Wear?
Just because you wear a Tapout shirt or an Affliction shirt doesn’t make you a douchebag. Acting like a douchebag makes you a douchebag. I own 1 Tapout shirt and a Krazy Bee hat. If you are thinking about wearing a Tapout shirt but are afriad of being judged or labeled as a douche, just remeber the shirt does not make the man. Unless you are this guy….

I don’t know if Krazy Bee counts as athletic apparel, unless you’re in the eastern hemisphere, and even then only certain parts ;)

clothes
If they make apparel it is for the fans, right? But, I do think there is a stigma when it comes to the sport and the apparel.
Just because I wear a Dallas Cowboy jersey doesn’t mean I play for the Cowboys. It just means I support the team and the sport.
Personally, I don’t like the clothes, but I love the sport, and would love to show support without people assuming I am fighter.

it’s more the fake tan, gelled hair, gauche jewelry accessories combined with said tool shirt that make the overall look so lame.
