UFC 109 Results: Matt Serra Knocks Out Frank Trigg In The First Round

This was a fight where it was very possible that the loser gets cut from the UFC. 

The first round was mostly Trigg using his reach advantage to pepper and counter Serra.  However, Serra was the aggressor the much of the round.  Trigg was attemping to counter Serra as he had done the entire round, but Serra came forward with a huge right hand that put Trigg down.  Serra then pounced on Trigg with some huge follow up shots to put Trigg away.  Trigg wanted to protest the stoppage, but I think the referee was just in stopping the fight as Trigg wasn't going to be able to recover from that.  Serra wins via TKO.
