Do You Want Nick Diaz In The UFC? Dana White Tells You Why He's Not There

From MMAWeekly:

I like Nick Diaz very much, and I’ve said this many times, if Nick Diaz would just play the game even this much... but Nick Diaz refuses to play the game," White said. "He’s anti-the game."

So what exactly does White mean when he says 'play the game'?

" Listen, you have certain rules and guidelines, and last time Nick Diaz was in the UFC he got in a fist fight in the hospital with the guy that he fought here," he said, referring to Diaz's fight against Joe Riggs in 2006. "You can’t do that kind of stuff. The kid is very talented and he probably should be in the UFC, but that kind of stuff has got to stop."

So basically UFC president Dana White would love to have Nick Diaz back in the UFC, but it's all the extra-cirricular stuff that makes White weary.  I'm sure missing drug screenings and openly admitting to smoking marijuana are right up there with having fist fights in hospitals after fights.  Personally, I'd love to see Nick Diaz in the UFC, but I would want him to fight as a middleweight there.  I still think he has a big hole in his game in regards to take down defense, and the better welterweights in the UFC would exploit that as they did in the past.  What say you?

I can’t fault the UFC.
Nick and his brother really needs to mature at some point. Personally I think Nick would get creamed by guys like Marquardt, W+A Silva, Belfort, even Sonnen and Cote. While his striking has looked better he won’t break the top-tier of the middle-weight division.
Nick Diaz would be interesting at the UFC welterweight division, I’m sure he will stuff the takedowns eventually except against guys like GSP, Koscheck and Fitch.

I don’t know but it would be great to see him back in the UFC but he has to simply grow up.

yeah yeah yeah . . .

Ehh

He ain’t stuffing take downs from GSP, Fitch, Koscheck, or anybody else with decent wrestling…he’s never been able too…the reason why I say MW in the UFC is that division is much more shallow…

I agree he’d be a great fit in the MW division…plus his brother’s at WW and I seriously doubt they’d fight each other if they were to somehow both get into contention

Yea that would would be a fight that I would like to see just because they are brothers. I know that would never happen but what a brawl that would turn into and then they would not only fight in the hospital but all the way home.

You Don't Have To Be A Fighter To Train Like One ! ! ! ! !

I think Nick Diaz is right where he should be personally. Not every fighter with great skills has to be in the UFC.
It’s not always a great fit.
Cro Cop is a perfect example. He should’ve stayed with Dream the first time he left the UFC.
He just doesn’t look comfortable or confident at all in the UFC. But I imagine the money makes it a little more comfortable.

Ehh

I’m a competition first type of guy…I wanna see the best fight the best….there’s nobody but Hieron left for him to fight in SF…

You are right every fighter with great skills doesn’t have to be in the UFC…but I don’t think it’s right for the to beat up on lesser opponents the whole time either…when there are better options.

Dana’s got a point. If Nick Diaz would play the game like Rampage, Junie, Leben, Neer, etc. he’d be okay with him. Whatever…this is just more Dana crap b/c he knows he can’t control Nick.
