Paulo Filho Says Bitetti Combat Wouldn't Pay Him Enough To Fight

I didn't really cover it, but Paulo Filho was supposed to fight on the Bitetti Combat 6 card last night against Yuki Sasaki.. He was on, then off, on again, and then off again. The statement given by Bitetti was that Filho pulled out of the fight due to personal problems. Which lead many to assume that Filho was having issues with drugs and pills dependancy which are demons from his past. However, Filho denies those allegations and simply said that Bitetti wasn't going to pay him enough to fight. Check it:
"We didn’t have a financial agreement. The purse was too low comparing from what I’m used to receive and it’s bad for the fighter’s career,"

It may have been the money, but it’s just as likely that he’s a headcase. Didn’t his mom call some reporter about the last fight he pulled out of to give him an excuse?

Seems like I remember something about that
either way..you’d think a veteran of the sport wouldn’t have this type of issue….either reach an agreement beforehand…or stop with the back and forth of being on/off the card.

I’m sure it was really him pulling out, and Bitetti saying that he was still on. Filho is a nut, no doubt, but usually when he pulls out he’s out out.

…Then, days later, Bitetti told Tatame.com that Filho would take the fight after all when Sasaki reportedly refused to fight his replacement, former UFC middleweight contender Thales Leites. After all that, Filho no-showed the weigh-ins on Wednesday and said the cancellation arose over the money promised him in his contract.
Filho disputed claims he was still wrestling with chemical dependency.
“They said I’m having problems with drugs and medicines,” he told Tatame. “You can test me and you’ll see. I’m great.”
According to Soares, though, things are not great.
“There’s only so much we can do,” Soares said. "We love Paulo; he’s a great person, he’s incredible. But he’s going through some issues. He’s having some family problems.
So there you go. Props for not bringing his mom into the situation though.
