“I was disappointed by Frank Mir’s comments,” said Dana White. “Frank’s been with the UFC a long time, he’s a two-time heavyweight champion and a commentator for the WEC. I think his emotions are running high right now, he has a big fight coming up next month and he’s still upset about his loss to Lesnar. He’s been talked to, he regrets what he said, and he won’t be saying anything like that again.”
“I would like to apologize to Brock Lesnar, his family, the UFC and the UFC fans for my stupid remarks,” said Frank Mir. “I respect Brock, all the other fighters, and the sport of mixed martial arts. I’m sorry that I stepped out of line.”

I dont like Mir
but his remarks are just him not worrying about being politically correct, which in fact I can’t fault him for. I mean come on, who really thinks he wants to, or actually would or could, kill Lesnar?
The only thing that is bad about this is that the anti-MMA media, the same media that only report the "bad things" about the sport, will use this in their arsenal of ignorant rhetoric. As dumb as Mir sounds sometimes, he is a smart guy and should have thought twice before saying that.
In the end this will pass and Brock will have his way with him again. That is if he even gets past Carwin.

He can’t have thought about it that much nor be that smart if he didn’t forsee himself giving that apology. And as for saying the media will use this as additional “ignorant rhetoric”, i’d say that hostility would be a lot more productive if aimed at the ignoramus who supplied them the right to make such arguments. How are we supposed to evolve into the mainstream as an accepted code of combat sport if a “a two-time heavyweight champion and a commentator for the WEC” is making throwaway homicidal remarks.
Mir doesn’t just sound dumb, he is dumb. And a bad ambassador for the sport we love.
