Strikeforce: "Miami" Ratings Score 517,000 Viewers

From MMAJunkie:

This past weekend's "Strikeforce: Miami" event, which featured two title fights and the promotional debuts of WWE/TNA star Bobby Lashley and former NFL great Herschel Walker, drew 517,000 viewers on Showtime.

Strikeforce's last event in December entitled "Evolution", garned 341,000 viewers.  This "Miami" show still falls short of the Cyborg vs. Santos event last August that averaged 576,000 viewers.  I wonder how much of an impact Herschel Walker had on the ratings?  It's hard to calculate considering that there were two title fights and Bobby Lashley on the same card.

In other news, the UFC 107 replay that counter-programmed the Strikeforce "Miami" event garned 2.2 million.  However, one must remember that Spike TV is available in over 80 million more homes.

You’d have to believe they’re happy with these numbers.
The Walker factor won’t be fully known until the next major Strikeforce event on Showtime which I believe will be in May.

That Carano/Cyborg card should’ve been on CBS. The ratings for that on CBS I’d bet money would’ve had a higher rating than the Fedor/Rogers card.

See...the numbers are good...but

that’s the problem with Walker…he’s gonna do 3 fights max probably…of the first timers that tuned in to see him fight….how many would tune in again to see him fight? My guess is roughly half.. if that..so we are talking about what…50-75 thousand people…it’s extremely short sighted on behalf of SF to use these gimmicks….not to mention there were a lot of empty seats in that jawn the other night…

Yea…they definitely should have put that Carano/Cyborg fight on CBS…I wrote about that back then I think.

BTW…next showtime event will be later this month on Feb. 26th…

Yeah I know, but I was talking about their next major card on Showtime not one of the Challengers events. Those don’t draw near the same amount of viewers.

And I’m not sure if Walker ever fights again honestly. If he does I can’t imagine there’d be the same amount of interest.
I like Walker seems like a decent guy, but this seems like a one time novelty act.
