if you add muscle mass you usually lose speed.
i guess the key words are “right matches at 185”
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. I was building a house, I don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. Bang. "Unforgiven" I drink your milkshake. I drink it up! "There Will BE Blood"

The guy is 5’10" and even when not in fight shape he maintains a very low body fat percentage. He would be extremely undersized at MW compared to almost everyone else in the division. He is basically Akiyama with less upper body mass and like Akiyama he just doesn’t have the frame to carry that much weight while fighting guys 6’+ and well over 200lbs come fight night.
I’m not saying he couldn’t be successful at 185 but it just doesn’t make sence to deliberately walk into fights with top tier opponents while handicapping yourself needlessly.
Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't
help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...
Man
With the way he incorporates his wrestling into his game..he can compete with anyone at MW IMO.

GSP in the MW division is just talk . . . for now.
- He sounds like he will compete in WW for a long while.
- The media talks about a super-fight. He doesn’t bring it up.
- He has MW friends.
I’ll give GSP props because he fights against “bigger” guys but let’s be real, they all start at 170lbs. It’s not like he’s a Pat Barry, Couture or Fedor giving up 20 – 30 pounds. I’ve notice the difference between GSP and Penn or Anderson Silva, the latter initiates the discussion of fighting at higher weights, not to mention the fact that they already have fought in higher weight divisions. I GSP just deflects the questions by discussing physiology, muscle mass, and proper weight gain nutrition.
I’m not mad at GSP, let’s allow him to cement his legacy as the greatest welterweight champion, hopefully his competition will step up.
And I pray his “secret” Mousasi training partner eventually enter the Octagon.
yes, some times I'm an old curmudgeon
