Was The Coenen/Santos Fight Stopped Too Soon?
Marloes Coenen thinks so, but still gives full credit to Cyborg Santos. She points to the fact that she was still defending the shots that Santos was throwing as she was on her back in the third round. I think the problem was that she wasn't offering anything in return and the likelyhood that she would be able to wasn't very high anyways. It's a testament of just how tough Coenen is, because she took some monster shots from Santos and stayed in the pocket and delivered a couple of bombs herself. Coenen will probably be served better by moving down to the 135lb division. A fight with Sarah Kaufman and herself would be very good. Give me your thoughts on the stoppage.

I think she was done. We’re not talking about Nogueira or Fedor here who are used to taking tons of damage. Santos was out of Coenen’s guard and teeing off.
Good call imo. Don’t want to ruin that pretty face now do we.

It was a valiant effort to hang in there and fight back but she was spent. If you isolate it and look at nothing but the actual stoppage you might conclude that it was a little iffy, but if you watch it in the context of the fight you’ll probably conclude that it was inevitable.
"I don’t care, hit him with your groin!"
