Report: Kenny Florian vs. Takanori Gomi Expected To Headline UFN 21 In Charlotte, North Carolina

The fight is being reported by ESPN MMA Live's twitter feed and the event will take place on March 31st in Charlotte, NC.  Florian could announce the bout on the broadcast that will air today.

This will be Takanori Gomi's UFC debut and the first time he has fought in America since taking on Nick Diaz at PRIDE 33: "Second Coming".  It's a bout that's intriguing in that Gomi was once thought to be one of the very best lightweights in the world, but he has had a rough go of it as of late.  He's only 2-2 in his last 4 fights.  Whereas Florian is thought to be one of the very best in the world, a top 5 lightweight in most rankings.  It'll be a great gauge to see just were Gomi stands in the grand scheme of things.

Gomi could possibly get an instant title shot with an impressive win over Florian.  Of course, Gomi and current champion BJ Penn have history as they fought one another years ago in Hawaii during a Rumble On The Rock event.  Penn submitted Gomi in the third round via rear naked choke.  The rumored fight card now can be found after the jump.
