Might be. I just wear what I’m told to wear, go where I’m told to go, and complain along the way. As long as there aren’t any snakes being handeled or beheaded chickens, I don’t ask too many questions.

What are you guy talking about – Dustin Hazelett thinks he’s a good striker? Tried to test his striking? Come on! The fight starts on the feet. Also, you have to set up takedowns. He made no mistake about it before the fight that he had no business exchanging with Daley. He simply got caught.

I wouldn’t say he got caught, simply because that would imply that he hasn’t been put in that position before. Koscheck did roundabouts the same thing to him way back when, although the difference there was that Hazelett tried to get a takedown there and failed, where here he just got straight smoked.
I think it’s fair to say that he was testing his striking. He had talked about improving his muay thai since his down-time, and even though I certainly don’t think this is a case like how Koscheck has almost given up his grappling in favor of striking, he was giving it a shot.

The Koscheck fight was nothing like this fight. For starters, Hazelett almost KO’s Koscheck with a kick during the 1st round. Not to mention, Hazelett should have been comfortable to stand with Koscheck because, other than the haymaker over-hand right, he didn’t have much to worry about and enjoyed a certain degree of success early in the 1st round.
In the Saley fight, he played it safe/smart and kept him on the outside by using push-kicks. Daley stepped inside and exchanged once or twice before the KO. In fact, the KO was the first real exchange where Daley got off a good combination. Unfortunately for Hazelett, one exchange was all it took.
If you can find me an interview where Dustin says anything that slightly resembles that he wants to test his striking, please provide me a link. If that’s the case then I’ll happily admit that you are right and I’m wrong.

Lauzon started believing his own hype? What? How about ring rust from taking a year off to have surgery on your ACL. He was completely gassed by the end of the 1st round. He stayed in the fight though. He was still working in the 3rd fight after he was completely gassed. There’s a reason it got “Fight of the Night”.
