Georges St. Pierre Talks About A Move To The Middleweight Division

GSP pretty much says that the move would be a permanent move, probably due to the added muscle he will have put on.  Not to mention that he will have already proven he was the best welterweight of all time.

Anderson Silva’s walking around weight (when in training) is about 210. 220 when he’s fat. For him to make 205, all he needs to do is cut 5 pounds which isn’t a cut at all. For him to cut to 185, its training smart, eating right for a couple of months and he makes 185. So theres no real loss or gain in muscle he needs to do. For GSP, having to gain a whole lot of muscle to make 185 and then cut back to go back to WW is a lot harder and pointless. So yes, if he does move up, it will have to be permanent.

Growth Hormone muscle gains are pretty permanent unlike juice. ;)

Silva's all the more reason he shouldn't move up

How do these guys gain weight so fast?

If not on “supplements”? As a Bjj guy with a moderate secret obsession for body building, let me say, that MMA and putting on mass is like trying to be a marathon runner and a power lifter at the same time.

From my experience, I can not gain mass without cutting HEAVILY my cardio! And then once Ive gained, I always loose 30% once I kick back up the cardio to get into actual competitive shape. GSP to gain 205 of lean muscle?? Thats easily a years worth of gains if not on juice, with nothing other than eating and lifting like a freak. (In my experience..)

I dont know how these guys (Mir?) gain quality weight, while maintaining their fighting stamina and conditioning… Im not saying it isnt possible, but I cant do it.

Maybe I just suck. lol.

I know what your saying Kevin, and Im certainly not a strength training coach… but as a guy who has gone from an adult weight of 135lbs to 200lbs, I could never get my body to grow when my cardio was high. I had to do it in seasons, it has taken me 7 years to reach a good weight for my height (again, not being a pro at this, alot of wasted energy and poor eating I am sure).

The other thing I don’t understand, and Im sure people can attest to this… when Im done hitting the weights, Im jelly! Trying to hit pads and roll that same day becomes an exercise in futility (well the mental aspect is good! But I feel like crap!).

Im sure its possible with trainers/diets/sleep all in perfect sync… I guess that’s why they are Pros!
