Gegard Mousasi: "My Next Fight Will Be In November"

Strikeforce LHW Champion Gegard Mousasi

Gegard Mousasi communicates with the fans via his official blog, and speaks on a variety of things from who he'll be fighting next, Fedor vs. Rogers, and potentially fighting in the UFC.  Here's a snippet:

In November my second fight for Strikeforce will take place but my opponent is not been determent . I heard some rumors like Kevin Randleman, Paulo Filho and Mike Whitehead. Whitehead would be the most logical pick because he recently won against Randleman. I’ve also heard a rumor that Arona is fighting again and it would be great if Strikeforce can pick him up. We can use a new light heavyweight fighter.

For now, I am just just concentrating on myself. On this level everybody is a threat in a fight. It’s better to look at yourself instead of your opponent.

UFC -

I was doubting if I’m doing a UFC chapter in my blog, my first thought was no because I’m not a UFC fighter but on the other hand a lot of people ask me the question ‘when are you going to the UFC?’. I know that the best fighters in my weight fight in the UFC but I’m still young and very happy with Strikeforce as a company. I’ve signed a contract with them and I will fight the fights they give me.

There are so many things possible in a short time, maybe I lose two times and the UFC doesn’t want me at all. That’s why I focus on one fight at a time. My goal in the future is of course to become UFC champion but I’m not in a rush. I’m happy with Strikeforce now and that’s the most important things. I’m now champion and want to defend with honor and dignity. It’s up to fighters like Fedor, Alistair and me to show great fights and make Strikeforce look good. I still believe Strikeforce is the company with the most growth potential. By the way maybe the UFC champions will come to Strikeforce and challenges us for the belt (laughs).

See, this is my only gripe with him in Strikeforce.  His next potential bout could be against Mike Whitehead, and no disrespect to Whitehead, but he's not much of a threat to Mousasi.  I'd almost rather see him face Filho next, at least there's some bad blood there to hype up a little bit.  However, at least he is realistic about the division he is currently the champion of.  I'm also hyped to see him on the same card as Fedor.  That  rumored card so far is below:

-Fedor Ememlianenko vs. Brett Rogers

-Jake Shields vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller

-Gegard Mousasi vs. TBA

This is one more reason for me to try and get credentials for this event, and make the drive. Then again, Mousasi was also the deciding factor on me flying out to Cali, and look how well that turned out!

Maybe...

..because the last time the reason they (claimed to) deny me was because they had already credentialed Lights Out(.com, I’d presume). Which, despite Matt’s emails to them, is aparantly the same thing as Lights Out Radio.

arona would be my 1rst choice after watching the bitteti combat. he looked pretty good for his 1rst fight back in years. fihlo looked like crap against a nobody. hopefully someone can get him away from m-1 long enough for him to hear the truth. there have been plenty of fighters that have lost 2,3 or more fights in a row and not been cut. now if they were to sign him to a big contract and pay him alot of money and then he gets creamed in his 1rst 2 fights(highly doubtfull) then they might cut him. hell any org would. i’m sure he is being heavily influenced by fedor and finkie, but every time he talks to a fan or someone in the media, he learns a little more, gets the facts a litle more straight, that the ufc isn’t evil and that is where every top up and coming fighter sould strive to be. SF is for the fighters that the ufc ddoesn’t want anymore or for fighters who can’t cut it in the ufc and can make just as much or more with SF. no offense, i like SF, but that is the way it is.

affliction and the carano/cyborg cards have taught me the ways of really, really looking forward to a broadcast…..everything from injuries to failed drug tests and you can end up with a truly mediocre card…..
