Updated(2x): Mirko Cro Cop Isn't Retired?, MMA4Real Tribute Inside
The Croation made it official with Nokaut.com:
"I have no motivation left and it's time to leave. Thank you all for supporting me."
I've been a fan of Mirko for years, for not only providing exciting fights throughout his career. However, the most impressive thing about him to me is that he fought the best of the best for most of his career. There are very few 'cans' on his resume so to speak, and he sported one of the best knockout weapons of all time. The left headkick in which we'll pay tribute to after the jump. However, I just wanted to rundown the list of who's who that Mirko has fought during his career:
Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Josh Barnett(3x), Gabriel Gonzaga, Sakuraba, Kevin Randleman, Aleksander Emelianenko, Mark Coleman, Wanderlei Silva, Igor Vovchanchyn, and Heath Herring. Check out a great highlight that contains some of his K-1 stuff as well after the jump. It justifies what he brought to MMA when he made the jump from kickboxing. Great stuff.
[Note by Kelvin Hunt, 09/24/09 2:38 PM EDT ]MMA4Real reader Wlad brought it to our attention earlier today. However, this link suggests that Mirko has not retired. This isn't unusual as it's a similar situation to the he said/she said stuff after UFC 99. I guess we'll know that Mirko hasn't retired when we see him in the octagon again.
The FanPosts are solely the subjective opinions of MMA4Real readers and do not necessarily reflect those of MMA4Real editors or staff.

well
the last video from today (croatian, no subtitles http://sport.dnevnik.hr/clanak/cro_cop/mirko-nije-sigurno-da-prekidam-karijeru.html) says he still has to decide, and the media misinterpreted his comments shortly after the fight.
he also says he doesn’t want to quit now and return in a year like most of sportsman do nowadays. what he is hoping for is a last fight under K-1 rules (there is sort of nostalgia in his voice when talking about K-1 days, “… I grew up there, ….”).
However, he still owes UFC 2 further fights to fulfill his contract, and this he is prepared to do.
bye

ok, one more
He’s also comparing his situation with an ex-con being discharged from prison (20 years of 2 trainings a day) and stealing a box of cigarettes or breaking a rule a day after – wishing to get back to jail, unable to organize his “civil” and normal life.
ps. well he is a cop, that’s why his comparisons come from this domain
ps2. ok, enough of translations, my brain hurts.
:))

Thanks for the information
If he fights one more fight under K-1 rules…that would still make him retired from MMA technically…I know he has more fights on his UFC contract…but I’m pretty sure Dana sees the writing on the wall…
