Quoteworthy: Matt Hughes Says He Has No Interest In Fighting Josh Koscheck
From Matt's Official Blog:
I find Koscheck calling me out kind of interesting and I actually don’t know why he is doing that. I was used to kids doing this when I was the champ, but as you know I don’t have the belt now and I’m puzzled as to why Koscheck wants to fight me and not the champion in the weight class. I have no interest in fighting Koscheck and, as he was showing everybody, he’s just a kid. As of yet, the UFC has never come to me and asked me to fight him.
Well, I'm sure Koscheck would like to fight George St. Pierre again, but it's not going to happen in his next fight so why ask for it? Maybe he just doesn't like you, and wants to smash you?

This is why people should have more respect for guys like Chuck, Heath Herring, and Randy they fought the best people they could in their carrers and did not pick and choose easy match-ups.
Yo
I’m saying…he just signed a new contract right? So why wouldn’t he want to fight a top 5 guy in the division? I bet the trash talk from Koscheck would be epic son…lol…

I guess me and Mr Arrogance agree on something.
Swick and Kos calling out Hughes is lame. I can’t wait for one of them to call out Matt Serra next.
...some call me "el mexicutioner"...
These guys need to wake up. If 3 of them are in the top 5, these guys are going to have to fight each other or switch divisions. Swick aint going back to 185, so I guess Kos is going to have to drop, Fich is going to have to go up, or no one gets a title shot. Pretty cut and dry there.

I agree with yall
Only thing is…Koscheck been asking for Hughes for a while…well before there was a AKA log jam in the WW division.

I kind of agree with Hughes on this one
He should be in a Rich Franklin type of situation because everyone knows he’ll never get that WW title again. The AKA guys calling him out is kind of weaksauce… maybe Swick can start barking at Thiago Alves or something
Bloody hell.
Swick actually called out Alves

Shit
Alves or Daley…don’t matter…I wanna see him fight both….and either Kos or Fitch.

I personally want to see Hughes get the crap beat out of him. I can’t stand him.

Hughes is clearly ducking Koscheck. He does not want that fight

Guys calling out Hughes makes a ton of sense. Hughes is a name, and as the most dominant welterweight in UFC history, at least until GSP came along. Beating Hughes is good for name value, they go from being dudes in the UFC to dudes in the UFC who have beaten the former welterweight champion. Hughes talks like he’s just another guy in the UFC, but he knows damn well that he’s still got some name value.
Hughes saying this just solidifies my opinion of him, that he’s a real prick. Calling Koscheck a “kid” is really disrespectful, especially since Kos would probably beat him.

Which is why if they fight….the trash talk from Kos will be epic as I said earlier…lol.

IMO
A win over Hughes now, who himself is no longer a contender, is like when Hughes beat Gracie – who cares? Gracie is a legend, but was not in legendary fighting form at that time Hughes beat him.
Calling out past their prime legends may work in WWE, but not in MMA.
Bottom line is that these guys just want an easy ways to getting a shot at GSP, without having to fight each other.

Yea
I feel where you are coming from..but I don’t think that’s a fair comparison….Hughes is still in most people’s top ten lists…wheras Gracie was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past his prime. I mean Hughes only losses lately are to GSP and Thiago Alves…the #1 and former #1 WW in the world..

I dunno where you’ve been, but that doesn’t work in the WWE ;)
Hughes may be past his prime, but he’s still a game fighter. He hasn’t changed anything, he’s still the same fighter he’s always been. The Gracie fight was different, mostly because you’ve got a REAL one-dimensional fighter fighting at least an MMA fighter.

I'll agree to disagree with both ya'll fools. ;)
I just don’t see how a win over Hughes now can be beneficial or meaningful to anyone. The majority of fans realize he isn’t championship material in todays WW division.
For me to pay to see this fight, it would have to be on a pretty stacked card. I personally just dont have an interest in seeing anyone fight Matt Hughes, especially guys that consider themselves contenders.

lol
Ok, I’ll confess. I just want to see Hughes get smashed….

"Beating Hughes is good for name value"
That’s why it’s kind of douchey to go after him for the easy route.
Bloody hell.
take your pick:

Bloody hell.
Looking at Sherdog’s top ten, of the dudes in the UFC that he hasn’t already lost to, you’ve got these fights…
Fitch, Swick, Daley, Kampmann, Condit, Davis, Hardy and Hughes
A whole two of them are in AKA, one is Hughes. Hughs is notable enough to make a mention on the list, but there’s all this hubub about breaking up the camps? Come on.

Why?
It isn’t like Koscheck is in the title picture, with his recent losses to Alves and Thiago. If it makes him a bigger star, then there’s no reason for him NOT to go for fights like that.

Yeah if he wants to increase his starpower it’s a logical fight for him to go after – let’s just say I think he’s a douche for thinking like that.
Bloody hell.
I won’t say that they both aren’t a pair of epic DBs, but what’s wrong with increasing starpower? Koscheck has done a good job of marketing himself: people either want to see him fight, or want to see someone beat him into a coma. Even though making guys like Koscheck/Fitch/Swick fight eachother would break things up a little bit, what does it REALLY do? There are other fights in the division, this is just a bunch of piling on to the teammate vs. teammate talk that people love to bring up.

I’m supportive of Kos here…because as I already mentioned…he was bringing Hughes name up before Hughes became the Hughes of today…if he’s so good..why don’t he just send ‘the kid’ on his way with a loss and shut him up instead of saying you aren’t interested and then disrespectful….

Kos needs to focus on climbing the rankings
Not fighting has-beens for the quick pay-off.
Bloody hell.
Yea
But..the only dude he can fight that he hasn’t already lost to that’s ranked above(in MY rankings) him is Fitch…and Fitch is fighting Almeida next…

In the interest of more sensible match-ups
Fights have been reschudeled, cancelled and re-designed.
Bloody hell.
