The Dreamcatcher: A closer look

Have a look at Gegard Mousasi's record on sherdog and then read on

Star-divide

Mousasi is quickly developing into one of those guys that you always here mentioned in MMA discussions/broadcasts/forums etc. It's been building for awhile and he has looked impressive in his more visible matches. His defeat of Babalu was impressive, though, Babalu has always been on the fringe of greatness, and his chin was always one that had doubts. Mousasi submitted Mark Hunt....but then, it's debatable that Hunt has bothered much to ever learn a ton of grappling. Ah, but the dreamcatcher beat Jacare....if you watch the fight, Jacare fell into an upkick. Credit to Mousasi, but it wasn't the type of domination that deserves a ton of hype for that notch on his belt. He's also got wins of Dong Sik Yoon, Dennis Kang, Manhoef, Lombard, and Cyborg Santos...all at times dangerous opponents, but beatable as well.

His two notable losses are to Gono and Markevicius (great last name for an MMA fighter) by armbar. I'm not saying Gegard doesn't deserve hype and expectations to build, but throwing his name in the run for P4P and the like is rushing it, esp. when he's still fighting 2nd level guys in random organizations b/c he's promoted by M-1 ala Fedor. It may be quite awhile before we see him actually face legitimately dangerous competition.

Yep

I think he has a lot of tools…but I’m not listing him in any p4p lists or anything like that…too bad he’ll be fighting nobodies in the near future.
