UFC 103 Results: Vitor Belfort Defeats Rich Franklin Via TKO In Round 1

The fight starts and they dance for the first minute or so of the fight as both fighters are tentative. They both swing and miss at the 3 minute mark. Leg kick for Franklin. Franklin wants to press the action but is still being cautious. Belfort counters a Franklin punch and Franklin goes down. Belfort pounces and Rich is out, but Belfort hits him with a couple of shots for good measure. The referee stops the fight and Belfort wins via TKO.

I wonder what kind of epic hissy fit Hollywood will throw if they give the titleshot to Belfort now lol

To me that’s a fresh and exciting fight, Hendo/Silva 2 isn’t (obviously not fresh, but not that exciting either IMO).
Based on their performance against Rich Franklin respectively I’d give the nod to Belfort no doubt.

Its Apples and Oranges
You can’t compare Vitor and Dan based on how they did against Rich, the styles are way too different. If you look at it logically, Dan has done alot more in the UFC to earn a title shot than Vitor. Vitor shouldn’t even be considered for a title shot until he gets 3 or 4 wins at MW in the UFC under his belt.
The MW division is a special case IMO – bot the top contenders were already obliterated by the current champ.

I’m still not too excited about a Belfort/Silva fight though….it could actually be boring with Belfort’s new style of only counter punching….what if Silva decides not to attack?
