Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to fight Luiz Arthur Cane at UFC 105

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

According to Sherdog:

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is set make his Octagon debut against Luis Arthur Cane in a light heavyweight bout at UFC 105 on Nov. 14 in Manchester, England, according to multiple sources close to the negotiations.

Sources said the Brazilian pair have verbally agreed to the bout and are awaiting written agreements.

Noguiera, the twin brother of former UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo, is on a five-fight win streak and submitted Dion Staring with a third-round triangle choke in his last outing for Jungle Fight in May. The 33-year-old Nogueira also appeared in Affliction’s two U.S. events, earning technical knockouts over Edwin Dewees and Vladimir Matyushenko.

Cane, 28, and his crowd-pleasing striking has steadily gained momentum through his last three UFC opponents, taking TKO victories over Jason Lambert and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and a hard-fought unanimous decision over Steve Cantwell at UFC 97 "Redemption" last April in Montreal.

This one should be good, what do you guys think?

Should be a great fight. I think Nog will take this but it could be close. Cane is a powerful dude and his takedown defence is very good. I think Nog’s stand is a little more technical, a little sharper. Can’t wait for this one

Looks like it will be at UFC 106 in Vegas, Sherdog has updated.

That is a tremendous fight. A world class light heavyweight against one of the top young fighters in the division.

Cane is a predator and he can absorb ALOT of damage… so can Lil’ Nog though, but I’m going out on a limb and taking Cane via 3rd round TKO in this one.

Bloody hell.

Excellent fight and a tough test for both guys. If Banha wins, it puts him within reach of the big name LHWs like Rampage, Shogun, Rashad and Griffin. In my opinion, Cane is two big wins from a title shot and this could be the first. A win for Rogerio instantly puts him at contender level given his experience.

This is the matchup I was hoping they’d make, I’m happy!
