MMA4Real's August Middleweight Rankings

UFC middleweight world champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva

1. Anderson Silva

2. Dan Henderson

3. Nate Marquardt

4. Yushin Okami

5. Yoshihiro Akiyama

6. Jorge Santiago

7. Robbie Lawler

8. Demian Maia

9. Chael Sonnen

10. Vitor Belfort

This month saw the top 3 remain in their respective spots.  However, with Gegard Mousasi being moved up to the LHW division, we saw Okami, Akiyama, Santiago, Lawler, and Maia move up one spot.  Also, Thales Leites drops from the top ten after his loss to Alessio Sakara.  This allowed Sonnen and Belfort to creep into the top ten.  Some huge matchups coming up.  Okami will be taking on Sonnen at UFC 104.  Maia takes on Marquardt next week at UFC 102.  Vitor Belfort will be taking on highly ranked LHW Rich Franklin at a catchweight of 195lbs at UFC 103.

Hell Nah

There’s no way Okami can be #2 when he doesn’t even have ONE win over another top ten guy…

Okami . . . I just feel sorry for him. Hopefully he will actually fight at least 3 times in the year without injury . . . and eventually get a MW title shot before it is possibly vacated.

Ehh

I think destroying Martin Kampmann, Wilson Gouveia, and beating the hell out of Thales Leites(only to lose because of pts being taken away) hold more weight than winning a decision over Dean Lister, beating Evan Tanner that hadn’t fought in 2 years, and winning a decision against Jason MacDonald.

How about Josh Gross is reporting that Anderson Silva might be testing himself at heavyweight soon! I tell ya, I think that the 185 pound division is about to have a lot of parity soon.
