-Fedor Emelianenko remains at the top as the #1 HW fighter in the world. Josh Barnett takes an exit stage left because of testing positive for steroids. Therefore, everyone else moves up a spot. Randy Couture(#6) will be taking on (#4) ranked Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 102 next week . #7 Shane Carwin will be taking on #10 Cain Velasquez at UFC 104 for the UFC #1 contender spot. Brett Rogers holds down the #8 spot with nothing scheduled at the present time. Cain Velasaquez moves into the #10 spot after the Barnett debacle.

Based on their last performances and just a tad bit of MMAth, I’d put Couture 1 spot over Big Nog. But TBH I’ve never been all that interested in ranks on the basis that styles make fights.

how the winds of change come…every now and then i’ll notice the rankings in an old ultimate mma or fighter’s only magazine…and to see the careers of arlovski, brock, mir, Nog, Cro Cop and the highs and lows and reversals is just crazy….
