Dan Miragliotta Defends Sadollah vs Hendricks Stoppage

Dan Miragliotta does an interview with Fighters.com. The Orange Mr. Clean goes on to say in his interview :

“What made me stop the fight was the fact that, after the multiple uppercuts by Hendricks, I felt that Sadollah was out and went limp. He fell down to his hands and knees and just stayed there. From where I was, I could not see his eyes to see if he was out, but I felt that he was not defending himself and, after several more punches that went unanswered, I stopped the fight.”

This is the first questionable stoppage for Miragliotta as a refferee. Now I ask the question to you all was Miragliotta call the right call?

I think being a referee in MMA is so difficult to make the right call and when. Look a the Torres vs Bowles stoppage I thought Torres took about 3 shots to many, maybe the Sadollah vs Hendricks would have ended up the same way. Maybe not, it's a judgement call and I think it is important for promoters to know who has a record for stopping fights late Rosenthal, Yamasaki, Waugh. Refs who have a tendency of stopping fights early like Mazzagatti, or Miragliotta. And refs that do both like Yves Lavigne.

Thanks for posting…you see how you only need to link a specific portion instead of the entire line? It looks cleaner this way…also the place where you put your tags is the auto tagger button…just click on it and enter the subjects, people the article is about and viola…

I thought the stoppage was early….it was a tad early…I can see where he is saying that Amir went limp…but he deserved a another second or two IMO.

Most of which appeared to be to the back of the head.

Word?

I thought with the new rules that passed last week…the shots he landed were legal?

Yeah it was a tad early — but it wasn’t a horrible stoppage though.

Bloody hell.

Nah man… that was a horrible stoppage. You could see Amir trying to stand up. Of course he wasn’t going to stand up right away with Hendricks teeing off on him but he hadn’t stopped defending himself. Everyone gets stunned once in a while. Carwin got rocked much worse against Gonzaga but that didn’t stop him from recovering and coming back with a KO of his own now did it?

I hate early stoppages. In both the fights against CB, Amir took a lot of punishment but won. Dan Miragliotta should apologize. He was clearly wrong here.
