UPDATED: UFC 104 Taking Shape: Anthony Johnson vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida

According to MMAJunkie:

A bout between Anthony Johnson (7-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and fellow welterweight Yoshiyuki Yoshida (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will take place in October at UFC 104.

A source close to the negotiations today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) verbal agreements are in place and bout agreements are in the process of being finalized.

UFC 104, which features a main event between UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and challenger Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, takes place Oct. 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and airs on pay-per-view.

Now that should be a tough test for both men...very interesting match up if you ask me!

[Note by Kelvin Hunt, 07/14/09 4:31 PM EDT ]It is. Also, I wonder what this means since Johnson was brought up on charges last week. Zuffa must think he'll be in the clear in that regard? Also, the rumored fight card for UFC 104 is as follows:

Shogun Rua vs. Lyoto Machida
Ryan Bader vs. Eric Schafer
Kyle Kingsberry vs. Razak Al-Hassan
Pat Berry vs. Antoni Hardonk

According to the new UFC Japan website, Yushin Okami vs. Chael Sonnen has now been added to the UFC 104 card.

Very nice fight

It could be a short night for Yoshida if Johnson connects….however, Johnson may be in trouble if Yoshida can get him to the ground with top position.

This looks like it might be one of my favorite cards to date. I have been yearning for Pat B*a*rry /Antoni Hardonk. Plus, it will be the start of the Shogun Era.

I hope Yoshida doesn’t come out scared. He seemed really intimidated by Kos’ punching power and looked like he was trying to stay REALLY safe for their whole fight. Johnson hit’s pretty damn hard too, we might be in for a replay of the Kos fight.

I think the charges will be dropped, ever account so far makes it sound like it was basically nothing.
