Tomorrow, My Marriage Takes a Turn for the Worse

Tuesday, May 19, 2009 is a day that I, like many MMA fans, have been waiting for with baited breath.

After enduring bad titles early on and no titles to speak of over the last few years, tomorrow marks the release of UFC 2009 Undisputed. It could also be the start of something very, very bad in my marriage.

Star-divide

While I certainly will not actually jeopardize my less than a month old marriage to my beautiful wife Sarah, I will most likely be picking up a copy of Undisputed within the next 72 hours, at which point, communication could cease for a couple days.

Not only does this game appeal to me on an MMA fan level, but as a life-long gamer, hearing that Undisputed is getting great reviews outside of the MMA fan base is ultra encouraging. Nothing sucks more than when the game you're dying to play is actually a colossal piece of crap... cough MLB 2K9 cough...

Also getting me super amped for tomorrow's release is the level of detail and attention that has gone into the game. While there have certainly be challenges raised to some of the fighter statistics and rankings that have been published on this site, little things like the developers going back and improving Frank Mir post-Nogueira beating leads me to believe that this game will be pretty true to life, unlike some of THQ's previous wrestling titles where, for instance, Jeff Hardy could slam The Big Show with ease.

My days of hardcore gaming are over and so my marriage is not really in any kind of danger, but I am off until Friday while the missus has to work, so that does leave a lot of time hanging around the house with nothing much on the schedule.

Thumbs - consider yourself warned.

Haha…I’m probably going to hold off on getting this for a little bit…but I’ll get it eventually.

Yeah my girlfriend probably won’t be too happy when I buy this – I don’t game much, but when I do I usually turn into a complete recluse, loading up with unhealthy food, soda and also avoiding friends, sunlight etc.

Bloody hell.

lol man, my wife was doing everything to keep me from getting that game last night….didn’t work….I actually haven’t played as much as I thought I would because I’ve been fiddling around with all the different things you can do, so I never stay on one thing long….I will say the career mode is dope and I like the classic fights a lot…but it’s going to be hell trying to get all the unlockables from that

I’m a major gamer (example, 300+ hours on Fallout 3 alone) and play RPG’s a lot and really get bored with sports game (although I work at SportingNews and am a sports fan). However, I am reeeeaally tempted by this game.

I played the demo on Xbox Live but didn’t get my major questions answered by it. In the demo you are either Liddell or W. Silva…both strikers. My questions concern the ground game. If they nail that, they nail the game. I just want to know if it works well or if it is like most wrestling games where you just mash buttons and shit happens.
