Andrei Arlovski Set To Make Pro Boxing Debut On June 27th

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will make his professional boxing debut in two months, and the legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach says he expects Arlovski to impress.

Roach told me Tuesday that Golden Boy Promotions has signed Arlovski for a six-round fight on its June 27 show. No opponent has been determined, but Roach said that whoever it is, he thinks Arlovski will be ready to show off his punching power.

"Andrei is going to be aggressive, using his strength and his reach advantage and his height," Roach said. "He's going to be aggressive and looking for a knockout."

Arlovski's fight will be part of a card at the Staples Center featuring a main event of Rocky Juarez vs. Chris John for the WBA featherweight title. Roach said he's not sure yet whether Arlovski's fight will be featured on the televised portion of the card, but that he's hoping Arlovski's fight will be on TV and draw in MMA fans.

Heres to hoping they do end up putting Arlovskis fight on the televised portion of the broadcast. I'm a huge boxing fan and hope he can make the transition over nicely. Although I'd really rather see him focus on his MMA career and getting back to the top, at least he's doing it the right way...unlike others.

Of course they are going to give Arlovski can after can to build up that boxing record…I’m not really interested in seeing him box. I hope he puts some duct tape on that chin.

lol, they aren’t using 4oz gloves man. Arlovski will be fine. My boy Rocky Juarez is the main event (we from the same hood and went to school together) so I’ll be watching that night for sure.

Shit, it don’t even matter with Arlovski….like 90% of the punches going to be aiming for that chinny chin chin!

Yeah Timmy got him but IMO that was an early stoppage. Arlovski wasnt out liek he was with Fedor.

yeah, when it comes to the hw’s it a little harder to say one has a weak chin. aa does put himself in positions to get koed alot by going for too much at once. i too would rather see him stick with mma, but will still watch him box. he’s one of my all time favs and i think he still capable of breating alot of the top hw’s. i would love to see him fight barnett or overeem.

I don’t know about that…

Other than the stupid flying knee AA’s looked great. This ain’t ole’ Crocop we’re talking about here. Damn, that would be awesome on CBS!

i agree. great fight. i think aa’s stand-up is a little bit better, a little more precise than overeems. it would probably end up being whoever lands 1rst. boom!
