Quinton Jackson 'Penciled In' For August/September Return

According to MMATorch:

The winner of next month's Light Heavyweight Title bout between Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans may not get much time off between fights, barring injury, as a report from the U.K. based Fighter's Only states that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will be looking to get his Title fight at UFC 102 or 103. According to the report, Rampage has already been "penciled in" for a shot at one of the two events, with the suggestion that 103 could be a U.K. event.

That's a decent turnaround for the winner and a good way to end the summer with a bang.

UFC 102 is the Portland show….with Nogueira/Couture so I doubt it will be on that one…Although I don’t see that doing particularly well. It might though since it’s taking place in Portland(Couture’s home area) and he usually is good for about 400K PPV alone…Then again…that would be a huge amount of money payroll wise for Zuffa to shell out. I expect this to take place in Sept. at 103.

so that’ll probably mean only 2 LHW title defenses in ’09 :(

Nah, he(or the winner) could fight again in December…that would be 3 months in between fights.

hopefully whoever wins does it quick so that we can get one more LHW title bout in to close off the year, who do you think would be in contention by that time?

I think Rashad is going to beat Machida(awaits the backlash)…I have no idea who would win Rashad/Rampage…I’m say Rampage for now…

If Shogun can get another win between now and then…I know they would LOVE to do Rampage/Shogun on the year end card…When Forrest beats Thiago Silva…he’ll be right there as well.

haven’t thought about Forrest (my bad) but he is right there for another shot…and I was thinking Shogun too…yeah it’s an interesting web they got there because the winner dictates who’ll be next in line because I’m sure no one wants to see Forrest/Rashad 2…but Forrest/Rampage 2 for the belt would be good…and so on…hopefully both title fights are good that’s all I hope for

Word. It would be cool if somebody could defend that belt at least 3 times before losing it. However, I don’t know if it’s possible anymore. I mean it’s not like when Tito was champion and was fighting guys that were natural 185’ers.
