FINAL MMA4Real Fantasy League Power Rankings

So here's how it works, I take the total amount of fights you've guessed on, multiply them by 5, which shows how many points you'd have if you were perfect and then I divide your current score with that total and get the percentage of what you've gotten right so far this season.  This shakes things up a ton as it's based on how well you've done with points AND with your guesses, so here goes

UPDATED 6/23/09 - According to our final ratings, B Money is the overall pound for pound picker as he came in with 37% overall.  Now, he didn't join us for the last event but he did have enough picks of 70 to qualify.  Congratulations to B Money for his successful picking abilities and also to Neil for coming in strong at second place.  Myself at third thanks to the last few weeks of me struggling and Felix and 3PA topping out the top 5.  This was really fun and again make sure you go to mmaplayground to join up and join us MMA For Realer's there as we'll begin our quest to outpoint BloodyElbow's inhabitants starting with UFC 100.  Good luck all!

Don't get me wrong. I know it's just a game and I'm not trying to stir the pot or question my man Charles, BUT...

Wouldn’t it just be more fair to just go by points, being that the more points someone gets reflects how accurate a persons picks really are?

The only reason I ask is because for instance, I have played a total of 68 fights (53-15), have 117 points, but yet someone who has played 32 fights(16-16), 51 total points is on my heels because they have played a fewer amount of fights.
Or someone that has less wins and less points in general gets a higher percentage because of the same reason? It really doesn’t give me an incentive to pick more fights a all.

I’ll be honest, Ive never fully participated in a fantasy league for this long, so my knowledge of how they work is not great to say the least. Am I just way off here?

Right now, doing it this way is the only way to let people that join in at a later date not have so much ground to cover, however, if someone goes A.W.O.L for a long time but still has a good % then they’ll simply be dropped, the overall rankings is more of a way to get a gauge on how well those people steadily participating are doing, whether they have 60 picks in or 30…but as far as winning the overall league, I’m still ironing that out as we go along it’ll take a certain amount to be considered in the rankings again, so as we’ve reached about 60+ it only takes 30, but as we move on to like in the 100’s, it’ll take 60+ picks to be considered in the rankings so that what you’re saying won’t happen and we have someone show up a few times and then end up the winner, if this all makes sense…plus as we move on, it’ll make folks want to continue to join in so that they can see where they rank because if I do it solely on points then some guys that are doing good but joined late (like Neil) will have a steep climb

Cool man. Fair enough.

I like that...

I keep missing events for one reason or another and it’s nice to be able to be near the top because I have a good % but less points.

I have an idea to bounce off you though, how about averaging the points percentage and total percentage into one score and crowning them the season champion. Maybe have a 50% pick minimum so that we can weed out the occasionals from winning the title with almost nothing.

((pick % + point/power ranking %) / 2) / 100 = Race for the WAMMA Ring!

me too

i was on top, but a few bad outings and..whoosh! i feel lucky to still be in the running. looking forward to strikeforce to set things straight.. :-)

The thing is…I think those bonus shows should count the losses as well…not just the wins…that way people can make up ground…shit I went like 5-0 on the last strikeforce show…while some others leaders didn’t do as well….AHEM!

I raged a 103 on MMAPlayground for this event. I only wish I’d entered my picks here later when I had changed my mind about some things.

Second place ain't bad...

…but I managed to beat out the staff and Felix, so I’ve still got some bragging rights.

Looking forward to the next season, maybe this time around I’ll be more careful about making dicey picks (ie Kongo and Uno) late in the season.
