I Have To Give Affliction Credit
Earlier in the week there was a pretty absurd rumor that Affliction had intentions of going up against UFC 100 on the same night. I didn't even entertain the thought here on MMA4Real because that was just simply unbelievable. Affliction has done some stupid things and probably will continue to do stupid things, but going up against UFC 100 isn't one of them. Affliction COO Michael Cohen smashes it:
"I don’t think we are ever looking to go up against the UFC or anyone for that matter. We are certainly not looking to share the viewers or the audience that is our there. We would like a date to ourselves because, at the end of the day, we want the greatest number of people to be watching."
So I have to give Affliction credit in that they are at least smarter than that. However, he did go on to say that Affliction's third show would not be their last:
“It’s absolutely untrue,” Cohen said when questioned about whether this summer’s third show would be Affliction’s last. “The Trump involvement has really elevated Trump’s Affliction to becoming a real contender in this sport. Trump’s Affliction Entertainment is going nowhere except to the top, and the company will continue throughout 2009 and well into 2010.
So now maybe I'll have to take the little bit of credit I gave them right back? Poll time!

I don’t know how long they’ll last but I sure hope they continue. More competition = better for the fans and more options for the fighters themselves.
El Mex…I could be wrong but I don’t read it as them including the M-1 challenges when making those statements.

As long as they put on decent matchups and don’t let idiots in the announcers booth…I’m cool with them.

Yo
Goldie does say some stupid shit from time to time…but Tito and that other ass that you can’t half understand make Goldberg look like Vin Scully.

I just can’t take Goldberg – he is the absolute worst, IMO. You can train a small child to do his job.
Don’t make me stick up for Tito as an announcer – hah. Tito has no business being on the mike either but I will say he can provide some insight the non-fighters aren’t able to. It’s not to say the best announcers had to be fighters or anything.
The guy we can’t understand…are you talking about that Ferrall guy? Let me just say that dude should stick to YAMMA pit fighting. He used to have a radio show a while back … might’ve been national I’m not sure but it was on in NY.
As for the 2010…I’m being optimistic so I voted that way. It’s March now and if they have a show in the summer…the one after that (of course if there is one) could go into 2010…so I’m basing it on that I think they’ll have at least a couple more shows.
Any possibility of Strikeforce working with them? Both could be receptive to cross-promotion.
