Josh Koscheck Speaks On Loss At UFC 95
As for UFC 95. . . YES, I would have liked to see the ref let the fight go on a little bit more because we are all fighters and we fight until the end. Yes, I got hit hard, but felt as though I could have recovered if I had the chance. As for next time, my message to all the ref's would be to, please let the fight go until I'm put out to sleep. . . Just so I don't have the thought of what if, going through my mind and probably the minds of all of you, my fans.
I took this fight just as if I was fighting the number one fighter in the weight class. I felt like I did everything right in the training camp to win this fight. I was in great shape, but sometimes you still come up short in life even when I have put my whole life on hold for a chance to put everything on the line in the cage for 15 minutes. I don't think I could have done anything different in training camp to make the outcome go my way, so I guess that's life.
On fighting at UFC 98:
The training for my fight on May 23rd at UFC 98 starts Monday, March 2nd at 11:30am. Keep checking back for my video blog on my training camp. . . Road to 98! P.S I don't care who I fight at UFC 98, I hope it's someone super tough and someone that is ranker in the top of the weight class. . . if anyone wants to step up, I will be ready to go!

This dude just loves to fight. Win or lose, gotta respect that.
It’s too dangerous for refs to wait till they’re absolutely sure a fighter is out but I see where he’s coming from.

Yea, I wish more fighters wanted to fight this often. I’m glad he’s speaking from this POV in terms of yea I wish the ref wouldn’t let it go longer…but it’s still my fault..etc. I guess he’s not getting a medical suspension giving that his training camp is supposedly starting on March 2nd? I thought you automatically get suspended when you get KO’ed?

I dont think they do that for fights in the UK. I mean, I know they don’t drug test afterwards over there.

I’ve heard that about the automatic suspension…is that set in stone though?
I wouldn’t be surprised if his training was delayed some.

Ahh…I know what it is….the card wasn’t under any commission since it took place overseas. Therefore, there will probably not be any suspensions as they normally would be due to KO’s etc.

Good thinking, Kelvin.
It’s a free for all overseas!

I’m pretty sure that in the pre-fight video (it’s not available anymore) he did with ESPN, Kos said that he didn’t even watch video on Thiago, so I don’t see how he can say that he took the fight like he was fighting the number one contender in the weight class. So I take it he didn’t look at tape on GSP or Alves when he fought them?
My honest opinion, and I said this right after the fight as well, is that since Kos never heard of this guy, he underestimated Thiago, disregarded him before the fight, and was looking past him.

Yea, I remember him saying he didn’t watch any video on him. Which does not equal to doing everything he could have done to prepare for him.

yeah, his trainer probably watched film on paulo, and had kos train to keep it standing, which was actually the right fightplan. paulo has a blackbelt in bjj, and was 10-0 with 7 subs prior to this fight, so kepping paulo upright was probably the main goal.even if they rematch, the best fightplan for kos is to keep it standing, just not get so sloppy with his punches. i think kos will be fine, he just gonna have to wait a little longer to get a title shot.

I agree
He had the right game plan. I think he pressed the tempo a little bit because the fans started to boo. He got caught because he was being aggressive. That is the beauty of MMA.

I agree, I just read a article about how Kos should have went back to his wrestling and took the guy down. Which would have been absolutely retarded given how bad Thiago was looking on the feet, and he’s supposed to be pretty adept on the ground. I read it and was like wtf…lol
