Kimbo's mindset the biggest obstacle to success?
I'm sure some of this is hyperbole, but it sounds reminiscent of what Bas had to say about Kimbo's attitude towards training. Kimbo has yet to see the mixed in MMA it sounds like. You can't just sorta figure out how to fight a solid 20 lb's lighter against a beast like Houston Alexander without some instruction...well you can try, but the drain will be pretty apparent. Kimbo may end up being fodder for Alexander yet, unless this is some clever ploy.....having seen what Alexander has done to some top and mid tier guys tho', I hope Kimbo's doing everything in his power to prepare, but Houston can end ANYone's night with a punch. or a knee for that matter, based on his previous fights. Kimbo is a guy that reportedly started waving a pistol around at ATT awhile back.

Yea
It really doesn’t seem like he wants to learn mixed martial arts…he really hasn’t made any improvements in the 2-3 years he’s been ‘training’.

You can’t hope to throw a few bombs and catch someone early every time you fight. He has no ground game whatsoever. He hardly utilizes any kicks and has very poor take down defense as well. All that put together spells disaster. And then theres the mindset.
I think he’s come to accept the fact that he’s nothing more than an old backyard brawler and no amount of training is going to change that. The guys who learn things quick are usually seasoned athletes of some kind…. wrestling, football, something. Case in point, Schaub. Its pretty remarkable how much he has developed in just 2 years.
