Wild Bill's Fight Night 24 Thoughts and Results

Ah yes, the lovely Hooters girls of Gwinnett were on hand for ring card duty at Wild Bill's on Friday night. I had the satisfaction of not only taking pictures of these beautiful ladies but also to watch a great MMA event. Every year David Oblas contributes to the charity Toys for Tots at Wild Bill's. Toys for Tots is a charity that sends new toys to impoverished children.  For every newly wrapped toy someone brought in Mr. Oblas would give one free ticket. It is a really good cause and I applaud Mr. Oblas and Undisputed Productions for there generosity. Undisputed Productions and Full Throttle Entertainment put on a very exciting show that the colossal crowd enjoyed. Wild Bill's was absolutely packed!  Undisputed Productions reveled that Junie Browning will be headlining the next Wild Bill's event on Feb 5th.

Frank Cespedesvs. Collin Smith: Smith via Guillotine Choke R2

Smith was in control the whole fight. In the first round Smith achieved a takedown and continually worked for submissions on top. Cespedes fought valiantly but eventually succumbed to a Guillotine in the second round.

Star-divide

Patrick Krepper vs. Travis Lord: Travis Lord via TKO R1

In the first round both guys come out swinging! Lord steps back and throws a viscous knee that crumple Krepper. Lord starts raining down punches on Krepper. Krepper is not doing anything to improve his position and the referee Will Fisher stops the fight in the first round.

Bryant Cullens vs. Timm Wilson: Bryant Cullens via Standing Guillotine R2

Cullens corners Wilson in the ring and lands a multitude of strikes. Cullens gets Wilson in the Thai Plum and starts throwing knees to Wilson's body. Wilson counters by judo throwing Cullens to the mat. Wilson stays on top for the rest of the round. Both fighters come out in the second and start throwing hands. Cullens is getting the better of the striking. Cullen comes inside and locks on a standing guillotine that forces Wilson to tap.

Mike Alvarado vs. Donald Clack: Mike Alvarado via TKO R2

Both fighters looked a little timid, but Alverado takes advantage of his opponents poor footwork and traps Clack. Alvarado unloads on his opponent and Clack is looking for a way out. He gets out of the corner and starts peppering Alvarado with some clean shots until the round ends. Clack comes out aggressive and lands some clean shots on Alvarado. Alvarado comes back and lands a few shots of his own. This is turning into the fight of the night! Alverado quickly ends Clack'snight with a right hand.

Donald Lipscomb vs. Humza Mutaalio: Humza Mutaalio via TKO R3

Mutaalio starts the round by throwing multiple kicks. Mutaalio gets in the clinch and lands an unintentional low blow. After the foul Mutaalio slams Libscomb and works on top til the end of the round. In the second Lipscomb gets a takedown and starts work submission attempts on Mutaalio. Some fun back and forth grappling occurs and Mutaalio eventually takes Lipscomb's back, but the round ends just as he achieves the position. In the third Libscomb catches Mutaalio with a punch. Lipscomb follows Mutaalio to the ground and works on top. More back and forth grappling occurs and Mutaalio gets on top of Libscomb. from guard Mutaalio rains down punches that forces the referee to stop the fight.

Justin Barnwell vs. Gerry Tena: Justin Barnwell via Unanimous Decision

Fighters come out throwing strikes and Barnwell some how gets behind Tena and hops on his back! Barnwell tries to lock in a rear naked choke but Tena defends well. Both fighters finish the round by exchanging strikes. In the second it is all Barnwell. Barnwell keeps Tena guessing by attempting lots of submissions, yet Tena never gives up. Again Barnwell is on top of Tena working a triangle. Tena is offering some ground and pound from the bottom and that is way the round ends.

TJ Harris vs. Jerrid Burke: Jerrid Burke via KO R1

Both fighters are out their throwing MASSIVE shots at each other! Burke is landing the cleaner shots. Harris tries to come inside on Burke, but he is met with a clean right hand that drops him and ends the fight.

Chris McNally vs. Mike Israel: McNally via Guillotine R2

Both fighters are looking for the takedown and after a struggle between the two fighters Israel achieves the takedown. McNally uses a kimura to sweep Israel, McNally stays in his guard until the round ends. McNally comes out aggressive and peppers Israel with some good shots on the feet. Israel not wanting to stand any longer takes McNally down. Bad idea by Israel because McNally locks in a tight guillotine to finish the fight.

Joe Carroll vs. Lance Dickson:  Joe Carroll via Armbar R1

Dickson drops Carroll with a right hand, Dickson lands a few follow up strikes while Carroll is on the ground. But Carroll perseveres and locks in a tight armbar Dickson can't get out of. Wildbills24013_medium

Johnny Buck vs. Aaron "Tex" Johnson: Aaron "Tex" Johnson via Heel Hook R1

Buck quickly takes down Johnson, Buck is standing in Johnson's guard. Rapidly Johnson grabs Buck's leg and executes a slick Heel Hook that ends the fight.

Roger Carroll vs. Dave Mewborn: Mewborn via D`Arce Choke R2

Before the fight starts the crowd is going crazy. The roof is coming off as Mewborn enters the cage. Carroll starts off by throwing some really sharp low kicks. Really fun back and forth grappling going on between the two fighters. Mewborn gets close to finishing an armbar but Carroll sweeps! Carroll throws Mewborn down and locks in a tight guillotine! Mewborn just gets out of the choke! I can not describe how close Carroll was to ending this fight, the expression on Mewborn face when the round ended was relief. In the second Mewborn takes down Carroll and eventually Carroll locks in a kimura that allows him to sweep. While this is happening the crowd is going nuts! Carroll losses his balance from an attempted head kick and Mewborn follows him to the ground. Mewborn moves around and locks in an unconventional D'arce choke.

I had a great time at Wild Bill's. I got to meet the WEC Bantamweight Champion Brian Bowles, he was nice enough to sit down and allow me to interview him. The interview will be posted soon. Big thanks to Team Superior, all of them could not have been any nicer to me. Big thanks to David Oblasand Undisputed Productions, they put on another fantastic show. And finally big thanks to Kelvin Hunt for hooking me up with Team Superior and letting me cover the event.

Great stuff, man! Wild Bill’s always has good fight cards. Can’t wait to read the Bowles interview too. As far as the photo at the top, Georgia always has some of the nicest scenery in the southeast.
