Donald Cerrone is the WEC lightweight fomer #1 contender coming off a unanimous decision loss againt Ben Henderson at WEC 43. Cerrone comes into the fight with a career record of (10-2), with 9 of those wins coming via submission. Which is surprising considering that Cerrone prefers to stand and bang it out with his opponents, while using his reach and muay thai skills. Cerrone is a tough as they come often willing to take a shot to land one of his own. He'll find someone that's up to the task in his opponent Ed "9mm" Ratcliff.
SBN coverage of WEC 45: Cerrone vs. Ratcliff
Ed Ratcliff comes into this fight fresh off a win over the tough Phil Cardella at WEC 43. Ratcliff has a career record of 7-1, with his only loss coming against former #1 contender Marcus Hick at WEC 33. Hicks submitted Ratcliff with a guillotine choke, which is Hicks patented move. Ratcliff has only gone to a decision once in his career and 5 of his seven wins are via the KO/TKO variety. Ratcliff is a striker with a karate background that likes to implement kicks as well as use of his quick hands.
This fight will probably play out on the feet, as Cerrone probably will choose to stand and bang with Ratcliff. It'll be Cerrone's muay thai vs. Ratcliff's karate. However, if the fight goes to the ground Cerrone should enjoy the advantage there. Who do you see taking this one?
