Tété Á Tito for Henderson

Dana-white-14_medium

In a rather interesting development i came across on FightersOnlyMagazine.co.uk, Dana White has revealed one of, if not the main stumbling block in signing Dan "Hollywood" Henderson to the UFC.

he blames Tito Ortiz. The UFC president explained why during a recent appearance on MMA Junkie Radio.

"The shit that Dan came in and said in my office and what he wants, it's unrealistic, and he knows it. And it's basically based off of, ‘I heard this guy is making this’… basically, what everybody gets pissed off about is Tito," he said.

"‘Oh, I heard Tito is making all this money, and Tito is this and that.’ And it's because Tito likes to go out there and stay stuff like that or somebody in his camp did. That’s how gets started," White added. He also said Henderson  "is in I-don't-want-to-make-a-deal mode" and has been unwilling to negotiate.

Personally it comes as no surprise, especially after UFC 106's performance that fighters like Dan are disillusioned by Tito's $250,000 paycheck. I too was in disbelief on hearing the value of it. In hindsight though it has to be qualified with the key fact that Tito (like it or not) sells PPV in a manner few fighters compare with. Including you Dan.

Yo

I can understand Dan’s plight…but he’s not a PPV draw…plain and simple…I know he wants to bank on one last big contract at his age in the game…I totally understand that…and he believes he should be paid for all of his contributions in MMA etc….but he also has to be realistic as well.

^^this

he also has to be realistic as well

…isn’t going to happen though…not anytime soon anyway! his biggest problem is for his veteran status Zuffa owns all his footage (Pride/UFC). It would suck for Coker et al to try and promote the dude, its hard enough trying to do it for Emelianenko.

Get some sense of perspective Dan, take the UFC contract…please

I’ve got a gut feeling that we’ll see Dan back in the Octagon. I could be wrong, but it’s just a hunch.

I agree

Sonnen’s wrestling is on point…but I think Marquardt will be too much.
