Karo Parisyan off of UFC 106 card (Updated)
A collection of recent "Tweets" by UFC's Dana White, as well as Sports Illustrated's Josh Gross confirm that UFC fighter (or is that FORMER UFC fighter?) Karo Parisyan will not be fighting on this weekend's UFC 106 card.
Dana White's Twitter account reveals that Karo will not be fighting, although isn't specific as to why:
Karo Parisyan has f***ed over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again!!! He will not be fighting saturday or ever again in the UFC!!
Pulled out of the fight the day before weigh ins again with a laundry list of excuses!!! Let the press ask karo why! Let him explain.
Not long after, Josh Gross chimes in on the situation, although offers no more insight as to what the cause for the withdrawl is:
Karo Parisyan via text confirmed he won't be fighting Saturday. He declined to answer any questions.
Another tweet by White:
Dustin will be paid his full purse to show and win. Its not his fault.
Not long after the aforementioned tweets, White commented that Dustin "McLovin" Hazelet will receive both his show and win money. Although the UFC has had fighters on-deck to replace Parisyan in the past, it seems as though it isn't the case this time around. Although Hazelet will probably be glad to have the extra money, I'd be surprised if he was glad not to have the fight. This will have been Hazelet's first fight since this time last year, as he has been out on injury.
****Update****
According to a report by MMA Weekly, Parisyan had been licensed by the NSAC to fight this weekend, and that a portion of his fight purse from this fight (and his next, if he did not win) would go to pay off his outstanding $32,000 fine stemming from his testing positive of Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone and Oxymorphone. At the time of that report, Kizer was unaware of Parisyan having been removed from the event, but did know that Parisyan was having leg pain earlier this week.
At this point, it's hard to say what Parisyan's future holds, although at this point it doesn't seem as though not much of it has to do with the UFC. An alleged injury forced Parisyan to drop out of a fight with Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC 88 prior to the weigh ins in a similar fashion. The UFC was actually concerned enough for him pulling out of his next fight with Dong-Hyun Kim at UFC 94 that they had Rick Story standing by as a late replacement. Parisyan was able to fight, but tested positive for a number of pain killers, and was suspended nine months, and fined $32,000. Parisyan's career, as it stands today, 18-5-0 (1 no contest), with 8-3-0 (1 no contest) in the UFC.

His head isn’t in the game, and it doesn’t sound like his body is either, having been popped last year. It’s funny how once upon a time Karo was just about on the top of the heap, and now he’s getting shat on by the boss.

I always thought he was ridiculously overrated.
It was comical to me that after beating Josh Burkman (2 fights after getting his ass kicked, and his face scarred by Diego Sanchez) he saw fit to cry about getting another title shot in the post-fight conference (UFC 71, Liddell vs Jackson).
His nickname sucks too. He wants a title shot, and yet he’s completely incapable of putting together even the most rudimentary of striking games. Did you guys see him when he was a guest on the Ultimate Fighter pulling that alpha male b.s. on Nick Diaz? And then crying when Nick called him on it? I really can’t stand him, and I’m glad the UFC has decided to tear up his contract. He’s exactly the kind of fighter the UFC doesn’t need to build their brand.

Looks like his MMA careers is over, unless he’ll settle for small local shows.

Karo "The Heat" Parisyan is out of UFC 106 after failing to acquire a license in Nevada, according to Parisyan, due to not having the money to pay his fine from previously being suspended after testing positive for a three different pain killers following his UFC 94 bout with Kim Dong-hyun.
"There’s a lot of problems going on. They won’t re-license me unless I (expletive) pay them," Parisyan told MMAWeekly.com. "I had to pay the $32,000 fine in order to fight. I never paid because I never had the money. I don’t know if I’ll be able to come back."
however, Kizer said they had worked out a deal for Karo to fight….he could pay the fine out of his UFC 106 purse…

I wonder if Strikeforce or someone will take a chance on Karo now?

Would you?
That guy hasn’t looked good since 2007, and even then he wasn’t that exciting of a fighter. He’s talented, but I don’t think he’d do much to draw a crowd.

yeah
but this is strikeforce home of scott smith and jorge gurgel. they will take anybody at the right price.
Yeah, but Smith and Gurgel are “exciting” fighters. They’re never going to be title holders, but they’re the kind of guys you know are going to come into a fight swinging their arms like windmills, and you know sooner or later someone is going to get popped in the face. With Parisyan you’ve got a similar situation, except that instead of hitting people he’s just going to take someone down and lay on them.

karo used to be a very exciting fighter and i was hoping he would come back strong. i was never his biggest fan, but back in the day you knew you were in for a war with the heat and had to get past him to be considered a top contender. too bad. your probably right about showtime not taking him, but i still say there is a chance. they are not exactly loaded at ww and he does have some name value. hell, who know, he may never fight again. someone mentioned japan due to their lack of testing. wouldn’t rule that out entirely either.
Coker prob would, but Showtime won’t. They took hard stances on guys that bailed on them. They won’t nothing to do with Ken Shamrock, Diaz has yet to be scheduled, I doubt they will take a chance on Karo after he bailed on two cards.

OMG
I think the boy had great potential but pain meds may be his crutch. I am guessing this is the reason once again! Glad Hazelett still gettin’ paid!
Looks like he never got cleaned up after the last fight:

I feel for him
Because substance abuse is a brutal, brutal thing. At the same time though, the guy KNEW that he would be popped for the usage when he fought, so why would he take the fight? I know he needs the money, but like, if I know I’m going to get searched when I go into a concert, I don’t carry a gun in. It’s not something that he, or anyone else is going to kick overnight, and trying to get clean when he’s training? Yeah, try and go through something that’s going to tax both your mind and body WHILE YOU’RE TRAINING.

I don't feel bad for him in the least
To hell with Karo. He should have been out on his ear after testing positive. He brings nothing to the table; boring style, no drawing power, mid-carder at best and a shitty attitude.
And to all the people making excuses for him because he has an addiction, boo f-ing hoo. Its called life, learn to deal with it and take some personal responsibility for yourself.
Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't
help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...

I agree
I mean if he was a decent guy, a classy guy, I’d say, “But he’s an honest fighter, give him the benefit of the doubt.” I can say with pretty solid authority that he’s a total chump. When the cameras are off and the microphones and tape recorders are put away he’s always joking about hitting his girlfriend. He refers to it as “disciplining” her. Him and that clod Jason Chambers think that shit’s really funny.
