Dana White just told me: Lyoto Machida will defend UFC light heavyweight belt against Shogun Rua May 1 in Montreal.
So basically we have 6 months to talk about this one. I can't wait!

This must be an agonizingly long wait for Shogun and his camp. Its never cool to “lose” because of a bad decision and have to wait for so long to get another shot.
I hope Shogun mauls Machida and leaves him a mess after this fight. No doubt should remain.

only reason the fight is taking place in may is b/c machida has to heal up from all the damge he took from rua.
randy couture once said he needed two months to be able to walk without pain after the rizzo fight. that’s how hard rua leg strikes were too.. plus i’m sure machida’s handlers want to come up with the perfect strategy. i hope rua camp mixes up their game plan too.
