Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

I am sure most of you know I am not the leader of the Lesnar Fan Club. That being said, antics or not, he is OUR UFC HWT Champion. He beat a future Hall of Famer to keep that belt and he NEEDS our prayers and good thoughts right now. At the end of the day I can take off my UFC shirt and say here is a man, a Champion that has been brought down by an illness not another man. It is very humbling if you think about it.

Brock has a wife, kid, and friends that depend on him to make their lives better. You do not have to support Brock and his antics but you should have respect for the human side of what is happening here. This is not a ploy to sell more tickets, he is the biggest draw this sport has ever had. This is not him ducking me or any other fighter. This is about a man who is fighting an illness for his career, family and friends. Talk of stripping a man of his title due to illness will set this sport back farther then anything Brock has ever said. We need our Champions healthy and defending. I know the show will go on but to be a Champion you must beat a Champion.

My family and I send our thoughts and well wishes to Brock's family, friends and training partners. We are indeed keeping you in our thoughts. If you sit around bashing Brock or making fun of this because of his antics you might be the very same thing you despise. As an MMA fan, as a human be concerned that one of OUR OWN has fallen and needs our support.

Get well soon UFC Heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar.

I like the sentiment.

Shane’s obviously a guy who’s got his head screwed on straight (even if he doesn’t have a neck) and this shows the respect fighters have for each other. If I could get people who still call MMA “human cockfighting” to understand anything about the sport, I would want them to recognize just how much these athletes admire what each other can do.

I like that he said this, though I’m not sure if he feels like he needed to because he thought people were talking shit about Brock. I haven’t heard anyone call him out for this. I think it’s pretty well documented at this point that Lesnar isn’t overplaying a stomach virus or anything in this situation. He’s not pulling a Kelly Pavlik and trying to get out of something. The only person who has looked bad in this entire situation is Dana White. But that’s nothing new for him.

Yes! Yes! In the face!

He beat a future Hall of Famer to keep that belt…

Actually.. there’s nothing future about that. From what I hear about Carwin he doesn’t really “get it”. I mean, besides Wolfman, who really thinks that this is a ploy to get more buys?

I think I miss-read it first time through

Because of him saying that he beat a “future hall of famer” to keep the title. Forgot that the Randy fight came before the Mir fight.

And that being the case, he really doesn’t get it, because Mir is not a hall of famer.

doesn't get 'what' though?

I mean I understand Mir’s not a HOF’er…is that your point?

he said “he beat a future hall of famer” wich would be incorrect but understandable if he meant randy, b/c randy is a current hof fighter. if he meant mir with that statement then that is just speculation. mir could be a future “hall of famer”. any way, not a big deal to me, and carwin manned up and gained alot of respect from me as well. :)

Just his general grasp on things as a whole. Someone makes some off-color remarks post-fight and he gets upset about it. Someone pulls out of a fight because of illness and he calls BS, then a short while later pulls a 180 and tells fans not to be mad at him. Someone turns things around on him when he says Lesnar has no fights, and he gets upset about it. I’m sure he’s a smart enough guy (you’d be surprised how dumb some engineers can be, honestly), but when it comes to the non-fighting side of MMA (or I suppose sports in general) he’s kindof a nitwit.

I have always liked the fact that Carwin actually has an education and works a full time job! Probably bad for his fighting ability, but shows great character!

Not a Carwin fan, by any means

But he earned some points for this one.

Carwin’s stand-up guy routine sometimes annoys me – but massive kudos for making a very measured and classy statement here.
