Report: Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin 2 At UFC 106

Tito-ortiz_medium

Kevin Iole tweeted:

Tito Ortiz gonna fight FORREST GRIFFIN at UFC 106 on Nov 21 in Vegas. Just confirmed with #UFC prez.

Tito Ortiz was originally scheduled to take on UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman in his first fight back in the octagon since dropping a decision to current UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.  Ortiz and Griffin first fought way back at UFC 59.  The first round was dominated by Tito Ortiz as he used his patented ground and pound attack to bloody Griffin early and pretty much beat on him the entire round.  However, the second and third rounds were much closer with Ortiz squeaking out a debatable split decision win.  This is a much bigger fight than the Ortiz/Coleman fight, and a win for Ortiz instantly catapults him back in the mix in the light heavyweight division.  While a loss would just set up a rubber match, plus he could always fall back on the fact that he's been out of action for a year and a half.

Well done Joe Silva, and props to Griffin for taking this fight.

This is one of the benefits to having such depth of talent. One guy goes down and you can sometimes make an even better fight. Can’t wait for this one!

No doubt

I’m interested to see how Ortiz looks after this surgery.

mr hunt you run the best up to date blog i have ever seen. everytime i come back.....

you have new stuff for us to talk about. if you look on my profile you will only see the 35 blogs i belong too. almost all are college football. i just got done watching one of the best college football games of the year when nebraska scored 28 points in fourth quarter to win game. i wrote on corn nation before the game started that i took nebraska and the under b/c of the weather conditions. it rain heavily all game long. my comments are easy to see on that blog. now back to mma. this is a great card for mma fans. i just hope lesnar just shuts his mouth b/c i’m beginning to think i will choose carwin to win if he keeps giving him locker room motivational material to carwin. i won’t bet tito b/c of long layoff but i will take cane over nogueira. cane starts slowly but gets better as the fight goes on. i like that. can’t go against fitch. i will take parisyan b/c i love judo throws in mma fights. i’ll take saunders b/c davis has been in many wars in the octogan and has major scar tissue on his face. i’ll take sadollah b/c i don’t like big mouths or referee stoppages that are too quick. i’ll take george s. and kendall grove for the rest of the bouts peace out. ramble on!

I dunno about anyone else...

…but with this fight, and the others already on the card, there’s no way that I’m missing this. I hope nobody dies or is having a wedding on that night, because even that’s gonna make it hard for me to skip!
