Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva Talks Fabricio Werdum At November 7th Strikeforce Event

HW Antonio "BigFoot" Silva

HW Antonio "BigFoot" Silva

From Tatame:

"I’m extremely happy, very happy to be back to United Statesafter a year and four months. Everybody asked me when I would be back, and now I have the opportunity to face a great fighter", Silva said, praising the opponent. "Werdum is an experienced guy, he passed thru big events and faced great guys… The expectation is the best as possible".

When asked about Werdum's ground game acumen, Silva had this to say:

"Everybody knows Werdum, he’s two times ADCC champion and has a great ground, but I’m a Jiu-Jitsu’s black belt and my Jiu-Jitsu is focused to MMA. I have two great Jiu-Jitsu coaches, so I don’t have to worry about that", guarantees the EliteXC champion, telling that the he’s ready for a war on striking too. "Each day I feel more comfortable standing… I trained with Ouali for a long time and now I’m with Katel Kubis, who everybody knows that is a great specialist", finished

I'm pretty excited for this match, but I'm curious how the licensing for Silva will go since he got popped for steroids last year.  Hopefully, Strikeforceand Silva will not wait to the last minute with this process and force this fight to be scrapped.  The thing I like best about Silva is that he's a finisher, and has only gone to a decision once in his career.  Ironically, that fight was last year against another heavyweight with a great ground game in former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez.  If Silva can somehow get by Werdum, then he may not be too far away from a possible shot at Fedor Emelianenko, provided Brett Rogers doesn't snuff those plans.

A couple of things:

1) The CSAC said they had no problems with Silva fighting in the US again.
2) Antonio was hurt against his Ricco bout, which is why he looked terrible.

Great to see Bigfoot getting a chance to throw down in the States again. I’ve always liked this guy’s potential. I know he has some issues in the standup. But if he lays hands on you he’s trouble.
