Report: Matt Serra To Return To Action In February

I missed this the other day, but it looks like Matt Serra could be returning to the cage in early 2010 according to MMAFanhouse and could be facing UFC veteran Frank Trigg:

His new road to the title begins in Las Vegas on Feb. 6, as Serra said he has verbally agreed to compete on the yet-to-be announced card.

And while FanHouse has learned that Frank Trigg is one of the leading candidates to face Serra in February, he would not confirm nor deny that "Twinkle Toes" will be his next opponent.

I would love to see this one, because it would pretty much solidify who deserves to be in the UFC IMO.  Trigg is coming off a KO loss to top 5 welterweight Josh Koshceck, and Serra hasn't fought since dropping a razor close split decision to Matt Hughes at UFC 98.  However, Serra hasn't forgotten about that one and says he'd love another shot at Hughes:

Serra doesn't think he will ever get another shot at Hughes, but admits he would love another opportunity to show the world that he deserved to win at UFC 98.

"There's no way you are going to tell me I lost that last fight. I don't care. I mean, whatever, I don't care what the judges say. There was one guy trying to end that and there was one guy trying to squeak out a victory, you know? And that's pretty much my take on it. I thought I won the first and the third round," he said.

"I haven't mentioned anything about the guy publicly. I know he wants to move on. I would love a rematch because I don't think it's really settled."

I thought Serra did enough to win that fight against Hughes as well, and I wouldn't mind those guys re-matching one another.  What say you?  Who would you want to see Serra face next?

Serra won the Hughes fight.

As for Trigg, I think Serra should win comfortably via TKO.
