Mirko Cro Cop Wants To Finish Out His UFC Contract

Heavyweight fighter Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic

Heavyweight fighter Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic

From Nokout.com:

"I was very, very disturbed after the loss to Dos Santos. I was in such a state that I wished to hang myself in my hotel room so I would be gone. Three losses in my last seven fights is nothing but a disaster to me. That’s a terrible score and I’m not happy about it"

"I already know some things that I did wrong both in the fight and in the preparation for the fight, but there are many questions that remain to be answered. I am seriously thinking about hiring a psychiatrist to help me out. I have already made some calls about it."

Here he communicates that he would like to finish out his UFC contract:

"If someone offered me millions of dollars to quit my career right now I would not accept it. [Fighting] is my life and I don’t know any other way to live... I will make some changes in my training, because I wish to fight twice more in the UFC. I am a fighter, and I will find the motivation and strength I need"

I gave Mirko credit for fighting someone like Junior dos Santos and he did hang in there even though he was getting bullied around.  I'm not sure I want to see him keep fighting, but I do respect him for wanting to honor the contract that he signed.  Would you like to see Mirko back in the cage?

Can’t say I’m all that excited but if possible he “deserves” to go out on a better note than the last fight (I know, I know – you deserve nothing, you earn it in fighting).

He should seriously consider the LHW division though.

Bloody hell.

I respect Mirko and believe he could still beat a lot of heavyweight fighters but I would personally like to see him call it a career. Besides the hanging himself reference, this quote also disturbed me: “Fighting is my life and I don’t know any other way to live.” I find that unfortunate.

I couldn’t care less if he lost a hundred fights, i’ll always be a fan. But it is hard watching him enter a fight and not give it his best. Mirko is a victim of his own highlight reel and expanding skill set.

Mirko at his best was constantly moving, avoided the clinch and the ground like the plague, and used his hands to set up his kicks. Mirko these days is a plodding, flat-footed fighter who allows his opponent to determine the placement of the fight while just waiting to land a LHK and little else. Where is the CC who nearly crippled Yoshida with low kicks? Where is the CC who blasted the hell out of Coleman and Aleks with punches? Where is the CC who exhibited the best sprawl in the history of mma? He has the tools to crush every fighter in the world, he just doesn’t use them anymore.

Some people are like Slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't
help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs...

just another pride superstar who has not be able to transition to the octogan.

if he fights another top ten guy he will definitely get beat. maybe dana white and silva will throw him a bone. i doubt that. i think they rather see a up and comer hw knock him out like gabriel gonzaga did.
