Josh Koscheck Has The Right Idea

It's been reportedthat Josh Koscheck has inked a contract extension with the UFC. The contract will keep Koscheck with the UFC through most of 2011, and Koscheck has openly stated that he wants to fight 5-6 times a year from now on. I don't know how possible that is, but Koscheck definitely has the right idea. Fighting often accomplishes a couple of things:

  • You make more money during the year

  • You get more exposure

  • You can quickly move up the ladder in a division(although Koscheck is near the top right now)

I'm sure there are some fighters that have voiced their opinions about fighting more often but few actually get it done. Most fighters in the UFC fight 2-3 times a year, but Koscheck was able to get 4 fights in during 2008. I think that is something that should take place more often, especially when fighters are involved in fights that end quickly. If a fighter isn't injured why shouldn't they be fighting? Fighters that are just beginning their careers fight often all the time. I don't see why that should stop once you make it to the big leagues.

Koscheck is scheduled to face unbeaten UFC newcomer Paulo Thiago at UFC 95 which will air on Spike TV.

I dont see why this guy should ever get a title fight without having to fight Fitch at some point. if these guys are at the top of the division they need to make them fight or switch divisions. I’m not even putting Swick in the mix yet. I mean, according to him, since he beat Goulet he feels he is ready for Alves which is totally absurd. I’d like to see Swick against McLovin or Karo, then if he gets through them maybe he can fight Alves or they can make him fight either Kos or Fitch. Bottom line is if these AKA guys all want to be welterweights then they should have to fight each other. Hopefully Sheilds and Condit will somehow someway make their way to the UFC to help add more good match ups to the division.

I agree with Felix….Swick/Fitch/Koscheck….two of these guys got to meet the other if they get a title shot
