Dope National Anthem At Fight For Troops Event
Joe Rogan posted this video up that he filmed during the national anthem that took place at the UFC "Fight For The Troops" event here in North Carolina. He also has a blog about his thoughts on the war, raising money, and a bunch of other stuff. I've never been in the military. However, I've had family members that fought in WW 2, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and a good friend of mine from college was killed in Iraq last year. As you know I played baseball all throughout high school, college, and a little stint after college. The national anthem was always played before each and every game. I too always remembered getting goose bumps and a sense of pride while it played before each and every game. Which brings me to the question of, should the national anthem be played before each and every MMA event? The video is after the jump.

i think that would be pretty corny
but i wouldn’t mind crazy PRIDE-styled opening ceremonies with introductions of the fighters to hype me up

Ehh…the PRIDE introductions were too long IMO. I’m paying money to see fights, not fireworks and a half naked dude hitting drums…lol

change ‘wirewroks and a half naked dude hitting drums’ with ‘teary-eyed patriotism’ in my case haha

Ha, yea since you are from Switzerland I can understand your POV. BTW I don’t cry during the anthem!

No. The National anthem should not be played before every MMA event. That would kill the very idea of this sport being international. Its one thing to have it played before an event like the Fight for Troops one; but before Every MMA event? …nah. Theres no need. Football, Baseball etc are purely American sports for the most part. MMA is global.
