Roger Huerta Signs New 5 Fight Deal With UFC

According to MMAWeekly:
Popular lightweight Roger Huerta has apparently mended fences with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He signed a new five-fight contract on Monday with the industry leading promotion. Sources close to Huerta confirmed the deal to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday.
Well, I think most people saw this coming, even though he was on the losing end of his last fight, and that came after some candid comments about the UFC. Huerta is a guy that has potential and could be a champion in the future but for now should be glad to have the spotlight. What are your thoughts on Huerta?
UPDATE: Huerta is also one of the dozen fighters that IGN.com has confirmed as being on the roster for the Spring 2009 release of the new UFC Undisputed 2009 video game being developed by THQ.

It’ll be interesting to see how they push Huerta now with the way things went down right before UFC 87. I don’t know if he can be a champion. It all depends on how long BJ Penn stays at 155. I wonder who they’ll match him up against in his first fight back?

I’m no lawyer, but does anyone think that Huerta could sue Zuffa if he felt that he was not re-signed due to personal reasons or for reasons that were not performance related, and sight the fact that Alexander’s contract was ridiculously extended despite his dismal performance on the organzation?

@Felix
He probably could. But it would be a long, drawn out legal battle which could last years. During this period, no rival organization would touch him either. It could potentially damage, if not end his fighting career even if he wins in court.

Nah he couldn’t sue, because they can release you after a loss. Remember, he had one fight remaining on the old contract.
